Ofparticular interest is the account otfhe Olympic 400m, whertehe ScotLt. William Wyndham Halswelle ran in the 'final'on his own, subsequent to the withdrawal (because anofearlier infringement)of the othetrhree American finalists. Equally interesting is a detailed account of the 'Dorando' marathon, indicating that the event was originally scheduled for exactly twenty-six miles.
