135 Where are they now? Marea Hartman Following the reorganisation of athletics in 1991, Marea Hartman became President of the AAA of England. She died in 1994, the same year that she was made a Dame of the British Empire. Derek Johnson Derek Johnson became the Honorary Secretary of the AAA of England in 1991 but relinquished his position two years later. To the surprise of many, he re-married but died in 2004. John Lister After serving three terms on the Council of the European Athletic Association, John Lister has continued to work for his club in Cardiff. He was awarded the MBE in 2010 for services to athletics. Arthur McAllister Arthur McAllister substantially withdrew from athletics after handing over the Presidency of the BAF to Mary Peters in 1994. He was awarded an OBE in 1994 and died in 2006.
