Athletics in the UK: The Rise and Fall of the BAF

3 Foreword Most of my narrative is based on my personal experience as well as records but, after I relinquished the treasurership in 1996, I was not personally involved in any of the business of the BAF although, as the British representative on the European Athletic Association Council (I had been elected the year before) I continued to attend meetings of the BAF Council and received copies of management board minutes. The remainder of my narrative is, therefore, based not on personal experience but on these and other documents and conversations with some of those who continued to be involved. Having now completed this task, I can finally dispose of all my files and I am very pleased that, upon the initiative of Tom McNab, Peter Radford, Jack Miller and others, the Sports Archive Foundation has been created so that they can find a new home.
