Athletics in the UK: The Rise and Fall of the BAF
75 The BAAB goes bust with the money before it was earned. It was the BAAB that paid the price, perhaps unfairly, because the AAA had more reserves and was not burdened by the heavy costs of coaching and overseas international commitments. Despite the fact that the AAA was now well in the driving seat, the BAAB carried on largely as before. Perhaps there was even a sense of relief amongst its Celtic members that they could continue to discuss international events, selection criteria for the Olympic Games, medical matters, doping controls, coaching and so on and so on, as well as going to international athletic events as team managers, delegates, etc. without having to worry about commercial contracts and budgets. All that could be left to the AAA.
