85 A chief executive at last When Radford confirmed that he would be interested in the challenge, the management board was apprised of the situation and enthusiastically supported the proposal, agreeing, at Radford’s suggestion, that it would be better if he were called executive chairman and not chief executive. The position of executive chairman had not been foreseen when the BAF’s constitution had been written so an EGM was called to approve the necessary amendments. This was held on 12 December 1993, the amendments were duly passed and Radford made a short speech and received a round of applause. At the same meeting, it was decided that there should be a separate chairman of the Council and Ken Rickhuss was elected to this position. Radford, as executive chairman, would chair the Management Board.
