Previously on October 4th, r924, he broke the London to Brighton record by returning 6 hours rr mins. 4f secs. On this occasion his time for 30 miles was 3 hours II mins. 43 secs., and was a record. On January 7th, r927, he ran roo miles from Box (6 miles from Bath) to Hyde ark orner, London, in I4 hours 22 mins. ro secs. In the course of his London to Brighton run in March, rg25, he beat the old prof ssional record by more than 40 minutes and the amateur record by over an hour.
