I saw a beastly petrnl launch for the first time on the Broads on the 10th September, and on the 11th I came round by Loddon, tyres being well pumped out, and then into Beccles, riding 7¼ miles in half-au-hour, which is the fastest I ever did. During the week I worked round by Benacre Park,. Wrentham to Southwold (lunch), Walberswick (found Seymour Lucas had left), and Blyburgh to Halesworth,. and so on by Walpole, Hunting:field, Fressing:field to Har– leston (lunch), Pulham, Gissing, and Burston to Tasburgh, coming home fast after lunch, 43 miles. My two girls came down and rode with me to North Walsham and Mundesley, Bacton, Stalham, Smallburgh, and later on to Dereham, where we got drenched in a heavy storm, I having to tow my younger daughter. As my eyes had been troubling me for some time, I consulted a specialist (Nettleship) on the 3rd October, who said my left was weaker than my right eye. During the month I was picnicing in St. Leonard's and scheming zig-zag paths up the hill. I had my cranks altered to 8 in. and gear raised to 68-4, but I found they did not work, and on the 18th November reduced gear to 6or On the 27th I paid another visit to Selborne, Sachs and Macfarlane joined at Cobham and rode fast over Hog's Back to the cottage, meeting the T.H.H. at Bentley, rode out to Alton round the Hanger, but got a puncture and had to ride on the rim to Alton and wheel my machine from Clapham Junction to Sach's, where i left it. On the 6th I heard that a friend was going to be married. Noveruber rnth, to Norwich with A.L.R., when I bought King Street houses. 13th, 14th, and 15th, Foot very bad, probably gout, and was healed with pipeazine (?) By the 9th I was better and had a nice morning's ride of t2r miles with Sachs and his wife. I
