200 AUTOBIOGRAPHY On the 24th or 25th, my very old friend, Cuvelje, -died in his sleep in London. On the 27th, Downes successfully fitted np electric light in my bedroom. On Saturday, the 29th, I cycled over by Aylsham (lunch at '' Black Boys") and on by Edgefield to Holt, where I -slept at the "Feathers." Dr. Hales came in and we harl. a long and amusing talk in the smoke bar. Sunday I rode back through the woods by Edgefield, and had lunch at Aylsham. Lunched with F.G.R., at Simpson's, and back by 4.53. On the 13th December I rode over to orth Walsham to lunch, then trained to Cromer, cycled by road to Holt, where I slept at Dr. Hales'.
