Other Remarkable Prokessional Walking Performances. 1000 Miles in 400 Consecutive Hours .—This feat was accomplish d by Edward Payson Weston, at theNorthumberland Cricket Ground, Newcastle-on-Tyne. He started at 7 a.m , Wednesday, December 26, 1877, and completed his task at lOh,41m. p.m . Friday,January 11, 1878. Weston rested altogether 150 hours 38Jminutes. 4000 Quarter Miles in 4000 Periods of Ten Minutes .—Each quarter had to be walked at the commencementof and within the ten minutes, yet this stupendous task was twice accomplished by William Gale, viz., at the Canton HotelGrounds, Cardilf (June 28 to July 25, 1877), and at the Am- culturalHall, London (October21 to Nov. 17,1877). 1500 Miles in 1000 Hours (one mile and a half each hour, starting at the commencement of the hours). —Performedat Lillie Bridge by WilliamGale, of Cardiff, who started at 2.20 a.m . on Saturday, August 26,1877, and finished his task at 5h. 16m. 57s. on Saturday, October 6,having lost but 101b.in weight. 1977 JMiles in 1000 Consecutive Hours (Resting on Sundays).—This wasdone by B. P.Weston in an attempt to walk 2000 miles in 1000 hours over the turnpike roads of Great Britain, The start took place from the Mansion House, London,on January 18,1879.
