Men of Muscle, and the Highland Games of Scotland, etc.
JA)1ES MORRISON OF KILLEARN. 8c During last season Morrison competed 33 times with the hammer, out of that he has 28 firsts and five seconds, while, with the caber, out of 22 competitions he has won 16 times, tied once, and was second on five occasions. In appearance, Morrison is decidedly handsome. He stands six feet, weighs sixteen stone, measures forty-five inches round the chest, 26! inch thigh, and 18 inch calf. He has dark brown curly hair and moustache, fine straight features, and a Grecian nose. He is most pleasing and intelligent in conversation, and the possessor of a temper which nothing can ruffle. At the games he wears red tights, which show off his perfect figure admirably. He never raises objections as to the stance for throwing, remarking, when the spot has been badly chosen, that it will be the same for everybody. Morrison is very popular in the police, even the Bailies down Partick way giving him a friendly nod when they pass him on his beat. As Hamlet said to Horatio- " A man that Fortune's buffets and rewards Has ta'en with equal thanks: and bless'd are those Whose blood and judgment are so well commingled That they are not a pipe for Fortune's finger To sound what stop she please. Give me that man That is not passion's slave, and I will wear him Io my heart's core, ay, my heart of hearts." Such a man is James Morrison, of the Partick Police. + F
