Lambert, St. John'asg, ain showed good form bywinning the strangersq' uarter-mile in53J seconds, beating Bainbndge and Hutchins, two fellow-collegians. A. H. Hamilton won the pole jump and hurdles, aHndH. Glencross secured the widejump and hammer throwing. At the EmmanuelCollege, Cambridge, meeting, on Mon­ day March 4 and 5, T. G-. Dale may well be styled the victor ludorum, as he secured hfiorsntours in the quarter- mile, and the 100 yards in 10| seconds,besides being second in the hurdles and mile, the last wofhich was won by a good man, viz,W, . J.Batchelor, J. Collin, who after­ wards won the University walking race, made his debut m the four-miles walkingrace, which he secured easily in the very poor time of 37 minutes. H. Mitchell made a fair "put" of 32 feet inches with the weight. v A. W. Churchward, Pembroke, was let vinery easily at 4<o yards for the Downing College, Cambridge, strangers' 600 yards handicap on March4 and 6, as he won in the commonest of canters. ^ Hugby School held their annual steeplechases on March 5. For the openone the distance was ommile, and that for those under 5 feet 7 inchesabout throe quarters of a mile. In the former, Rowden led till the last water jump, when Welsh passed him with arush, and wonby 5 yards in 7minutes 15 seconds. For the juniorevent one of the closest races ever witnessed ensued. Badger leading till a dozen yards from home, when Fletcher came up and won by a foot only on the post, in5 minutes 5 seconds. The Christ Church, Oxford, meetinwgh,ich has always enjoyed a large amount of prestige, was held on the College Cricket Ground on March 5 and 6. A rule,
