Barnes(scratch), won the open 120 yards handicap in very fast time, beating aperfect host of starters, Barnes' running quite confirming his form of the day before. _ The open half-mile steeplechase was a gift to J. W. Laing, OxfordUniversity Athletic Club (scratch). He was the only man who tried to hurry,and won very easily in good form, M. E. Jobling(20 yards) and W. H. Newson,Hounslow Football Club(35 yards), making a deadheat fosrecond place. The It diagte and liedhill CrickeGt hib meeting, on April 18, turned out a perfect benefit for A. C. Tosswill, Oriel College, Oxford, who won the following club events, viz., putting the weight,both jumps, throwing the hammer, 100 yards and hurdles. 0. Dunt, South NorwooAd. C., won the strangers' half-mile,beating a good man in J. W. Fletcher, Pembroke College, Oxford, who also played second fiddle to C. Gr. Kennedy of Cambridge in the club mile. At the EltTiam CricheCtlub sports, on April 25, H. W. and W. Richardson wonthe majority of the club events, F. Sladc gaining the mile andhurdles. In the strangers' quarter ofa mile hurdle race H. Hart, formerlyof Chel­ tenham College, now E,. M. Academy, Woolwich, was victorious, defeating J. K. Birkeley, London A. C., by six inches, and severalothers. The second meeting of the London Athletic Club took place at Beaufort House on April 25, when a club 150 yards handicap waswon by C. Mead (11 yards), who by winning the Thames Rowing Club sprint handicap in March had givenpromise of better things; J. K. Barnes from scratch, whohad won his heat in 'fast timeg,etting third in the final. T. B. Macpherson wona novice half- mile easily in 2 minutes 13 seconds; one of a series of novice races wisely instituted by this club to bring out undeveloped talent among its new members. An open 200 yards hurdles handicap was won by W. F. Eaton (scratch), beating his fellow Civil servant, M. E. Jobling, to whom he conceded2 yards, the winner's styleof jump­ ing being excellent. E. A. Harwood again won the open high jump with 5feet 3 inches, only beating F. WS.mith, of the Civil Service. The three trial heats for the club quarter-mile handicap were won by H. J. Chinnery (18
