Olympic Cavalcade

122 OLYMPIC CAVALCADE the Stockholm Olympiad, Duke Kahanamoku, who won the 100 metres Free Style from his compatriot, W. Kealoha, the latter winning also the 100 metres Back Stroke. The marvel of it is, too, that both these coloured men were to survive and to swim well for the U.S.A. at Paris in i924. The only upset from the American point of view was, I believe, that Scan~inavia, with two Swedes and a F!nn, took all three places in the 200 metres Breast Stroke, but N. Ross quite restored the American pride by winning the 400 and 1500 metres Fret~ Style races, while their team defeated Australia and Great Britain in the 8oo metres Relay. Great Britain, however, defeated Belgium in the Water Polo Einal, with Sweden placed 3rd. There were at these Games two most attractive small persons, Aileen Riggin, U.S.A., who won the Women's "Springboard Diving, and Nick Skoglund, of Sweden, who was awarded 2nd place in the Men's Plain Diving. - These children were the youngest competitors in the 1920 Olympic Game~ · .In 1920 there were only two Yachti.ng events for 6 metre and 8 metre class-. Both were won by Norway. - There were, however, Equestrian contests in which Sweden, winning four events, stood out head and should~rs above the other nations. There was no Dressage Team event; the run of Swedish success was broken only by Lieut. Lequiof;!taly, carrying ~ff the Individual Jumping Event.
