2!6 OLYMPIC CAVALCADE exemplified when the Hungarian girl, Ilonga Csak, using a perfect Eastern cut-off, tied with D. Odam, G. B., and E. Kaun, G~rmany, at 5 ft. 3 in. Miss Csak won from the English and the German girls on the jump-off purely because she pad good style, whereas they had none. The German girls came into their own with the Throwing events, and the Poles were right in the picture. In the Javelin, Tilly Fleischer, Germany, was Ist with an Olympic reco~d of 148 ft. 4! in., L. Krueger, Germany, 2nd at 142 ft. o! in. and M. Kwasniewska, Poland, 3rd. at 137 ft. If in. In the Discus Throw G! Mauermayer, who held the World record of 158ft. 6 in., won for Germany with a new Olympic record of 156ft. Ji in. from J. Wajsowna, Poland, I)I ft. 7! in., and P. Mollenhauer, Germany, 130ft. 7in. It had been the greatest Celebration of the Games seen so far, and it was characterized by record crowds, record receipts and record performances. In 23 events on the track and field programme 16 new Olympic records had been set up, one former World record had b€en equalled, while new World records had been made in 5 events. · A week later the Olympic Flag passed on to Tokyo for the holding of the Games in 1940, whence it should have passed to Finland for a further Celebration in 1944. Those two festivals were never held, and now it reposes in London, where the XVth Olympiad will be celebrated this year and thence it will pass to Helsinki, where Finland will celebrate the XVIth Olympiad in 1952.
