Theobald lived in the time of Alexander theFirst, and David the First, kings of Scotland, having beenborn about the year 1110; and he had two sons, Humphrey and John. Humphrey, beingin possession of a large domain in the county of Kincardine, granted adonation to the abbot and monks of Aberbroth- wick, from the lands of Balfcith, JMonboddo, Glenfarquhar, &c. which is witnessed by Willielmo et Waltero Ccipellanis dom. regis, WUliehnoCummin, Milliehno Oifford, Phillipo dc Mouhray, Dom. de Arbuthenoty Phillipo de Mullcvill, Johanne de Monfort, Waltero Scot, et Waiiero filio suo, Agatha sponsa meu, cum multis uliis. This donation was confirmed by 'William the Lion, before these witnesses: Waltero et Wil- lielmo Capellanisnostris, Will. Cummin, Phillipo de Moubray, Roberto de Lunden, Rober/o de Berkeley, cun\ multis aliis; apud Forfar, XXV1. Martii. Humphrey's donation was renewed and augmented by Richenda, his only child and daughter, with consent ofher husband, Robert, the son of Wamebald, ancestor to the Earl of Glencaim. The witnesses tothis deed were, Dom. J. Wish- art, vicesm. de Mentis, etJohanneJilioejus ; Dom. Duncanode Arbuthenot, et Jilioejus; Humphreo de Middlcton, cum multis aliis.
