The more important and recent of Louis C YR'S performances at Chicago were further substantiated by affidavit made at the time by a number of responsible citizens of Chicago. The strongest man now living, or rather the man of whom the greatest muscular strength is authentically recorded, appears to be the French Canadian Professional Louis C YR. Some of his feats may be conveniently summarized as representing the practical limit of human strength. j 1 — ^KoLtvS crvvr Louis C YR has held out at right angles to his body 131 '/JBS. or over 9 stone. With his right hand he has raised 265lbs. (acwt. 4ilbs.) from the floor to arm's length above his head; and similarly 2581bs. with his left hand. With both hands he has raised from the floor 347lbs.
