S mith's 229 for Charterhouse v. Westminster in 1892 stands as the highest on record in an important school match. Probably the most remarkable record in public school cricket is that of G. L. J essop while at Beccles College. In 1895 he scored over 1000 runs andtook just 100 wickets.
