The upper half of the arm is still parallel to the ground and the shoulders are kept square to the front; it may be pointed out that the head is thrust forward in the correct sprinting attitude. FIG. 76.-JAVELIN-THROWING (No. 3). The athlete has reached the end of the run up, placed the right foot well in under the body, and is beginning to sink the body back from the waist; the left leg has come across to preserve the balance before the kick is made as the throwing arm goes back to the limit of its reach .
