Fowler Dixon, L.A.C. (" Vetran" of The Sportsman), running on the track at Stockholm. This picture illustrates how a man of over sixty years may still preserve good form on the track. Mr. Dixon established World's Records from 37 to 42 miles at Birmingham in 1884; his time for the latter distance was 5 hrs. 7 mins. 12 secs. These records still stand unbeaten. At the same time he established a World's Record of 5 hrs. 43 mins. 13 secs. for 46 miles, and at Balham in r885 he put up World's Records from 47 to so miles, his time for the latter distance being 6 hrs. r8 mins. 26~ secs.; these figures were, however, eclipsed by E. W. Lloyd of the Herne Hill Harriers at Stamford Bridge in 1913, when he covered so miles in 6 hrs. I3 mins. sS sec:-. 44)
