Reece was outpaced at the end of the fir8t lap, and Ryan and King kept in the wake of Web ter for a little more than a quart r of a mile from horn , when Ryan passed at a goocl ·peed. Ying, who was wuiting on him, an ·w red the spmt, and took first place 200 yd . from home, winning by 20 yds.; Reece and ,veh ter were fur iu the rear ; time, 5 min. 10 s c. The pace was slow. and Martin and J obling each took a f eclr:r at Barker, who wns run to a standstill when coming into the traight for the third time. Tlte tape was held up, and Job.ling was the fir t to see it, and he went away at a print pace, l\1artin gaining almost imperceptibly by his long . tritle till th y breasted the tape together, the juclg criving it a dead J1eat.
