In addition to tho local entries, tllere were :Mr. J. G. Chambers, Secretary to tbe Amateur Athletic Club; l\Ir. J. H. Famworth, of Liverpool; and fr. 'r. Griffiths, of the City Amateur Athletic Club; and with this trio <lid the ultimate victory rest. It was a capital race between Farnworth and riffitlis, the pair keep– ing on good terms with each other till tho ixth mile had been completed, when the former went away and won by 12 sec. Chambers was out of condition, auil l1a.tl to uccumb wh n the sixth mile had been covered. He, however, paced to the encl, coming in third, two minutes later than :.-riffiths. .l!'am– worth's time was 57 min. 30 cc. ; Grif– fiths, 57 min. 42 sec. ; and Chamber , 59 min. 43 ·ec.
