Davidson was never so good at the hammer as at the other throwingfeats. At Aboyne, 77 ft. 2^ in. and 103 ft. Sin, with 24I and16^ lb.hammers respectively. At Inverness, 116 ft. 6 in. with light, and91 ft. with heavy hammer, are among hi best public performances. Kenneth M'Rae, with the improved handles of 1890, has 82ft. 10 in., and 108 ft. 4 in. with Aboyne hammers, and 94 ft. 6 in., and 120 ft. 6 in. with Inverness hammers. George Johnstone,Aberdeen, with the 1890 handles, has the beston record at Aboyne, namely, 83 ft. 4 in. w th 24|lb. hammer, and 111 tt. 3 in. with i6| lb., and the third best at Inv ness with heavy hammer, 92 ft. 7 in. Of Alexander M'Culloch, Oban, itis sufficient to say that he has beaten both M'Rae and Johnstone at times. Both Johnstone and M'Culloch are young men well underthirty, and are quite likely to improve on th sent records. In the listof second-class hammer-throwers, those only are givenwho have made theirreputation since the present style commenced.In Aberdeenshire, J. George, Joseph M' Peter M'Hardy, W. Bremner, John Innes, William Innes, William M'Chray, William Nicol, John M'Hattie; in Banffshire, George Smith; in Perthshire, James Fleming, William Fle ing, Dundee, Donald, M'Donald, Lawers, Alexander Neilson, Henry Michie, Thomas Michie, Archibald Turnbull; John Anderson, Argyle, Alexander M'Kay; Glasgow district, James Mellis, Alex ander Kennedy, William Glen, 93rdRegiment. Joseph M'Hardy, mentioned above, has a record altogether unique as a hammer-thrower. At Balfron, July, 1870,he threw the lighthammer 112 ft. 4 in., beatingJames Fleming 3 ft. 7i") and D. M'Donald, Murthly, 8 ft. In the same year he beat W. Bremner atTomintoul, and John George, with light hammer at Aboyne, his throw with Aboyne hammer, short stiff handle being 97ft, and at that time hehad a sprained wrist.
