Palmer, United Kingdom (16 min. 33 sec.), 3; P. Gunia, Germany (16 min. 38 sec.), 4; S.L. Sarel, United Kingdom (17 min. 6 sec.), 5; A. B. S. Hojme, Denmark (r7 min. 23~ sec.), 6; J. Goetzee, Holland (17 min. 37} sec.), 7 ; B. C. Brown, United Kingdom, o. Larner at once went to the front, and at the second lap led Palmer and Kerr by seven yards. Shortly afterwards Brown was disqualified. In the next lap Kerr led Gunia and Palmer, with Larner 50 yards ahead. The German now began to drop back, and at the bell Larner led by 70 yards from Kerr, with Palmer next, and eventually Larner won by 120 yards. Heat 2.-E. J. Reid, United Kingdom. Webb went away at once, and in the first half-lap led by 15 yards from Quinn, \Vestergaard, and Reid. At a mile he was a long way ahead, and at this point Reid was disqualified. The same fate befel Quinn soon afterwards, and \Vebb won easily. The winner's two miles' time was 14 min. 0_ 1, sec. Heat 3.-G. Goulding, Canada (time, r 5 min. 54 sec.), I; R. Harrison, nitecl Kingdom (16 min. 4} sec.), 2; A. E. M. Rowland, Australasia (r6 min. 8} sec.), 3; E. E. Larner, United Kingdom (16 min. ro sec.), 4; J. Goulding at once led, and in the second lap he was 20 yards ahead of Harrison, Larner, and vVilhelm, but a quarter of a mile farther on the New Zealander took second place. vVith a mile to go, the Canadian was 40 yards ahead of Harrison, Rowland, and Larner, seven yards covering them. In the second lap Larner drew up to Webb, and Harrison, who was following them closely, was ruled out. ·webb and Larner now went away, Rothman being a long way behind last. The mile time was 6 min. 44 ec., Larn r just ahead of Weub, with l' err third. Larner now began to draw away, and pa sed the two miles in r 3 min. 435 sec., 9J sec. ahead of Webb. Yerr's time was approximately 14 min. 22 sec., oulding's q min. 33 sec. and Rowland's 14 min. 44 sec. oming up the straight finely, Larn r \\'on by about forty-five yards.
